The Truth About Emma Watson’s Secret Boyfriend

Watson's lived under constant media scrutiny most of her life, so of course, she keeps her life private.

Despite how much fans want Emma Watson and Tom Felton to be together, Watson is spoken for. Or so we think, as she keeps the details about her secret boyfriend, Leo Robinton, under lock and key. A lock and key, no Alohomora charm can crack.

Watson is notoriously private, and why wouldn’t she be? Ever since she debuted as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter, as a child, the press has stalked her harder than most celebrities. They even ruined her 18th birthday. But Watson is gifted (no, really, she’s just as smart as Hermione). She’s figured out how to keep her personal life private, even if the paparazzi have spotted her with Robinton many times, as well as all her other boyfriends over the years.

Although she’s quick to dispel certain rumors, including rumors of retirement and being engaged, she doesn’t offer any more than she has to. But what’s up with her and Robinton? Here are all the details.

They Were First Spotted Together In 2019

Watson told British Vogue that she didn’t use dating apps. Instead, she said her friends are really good at setting her up, and in fact, some of her best friends are people she was set up with, and it didn’t end up working.

So if we had to guess, Watson must have similarly met Robinton. Only this time, it ended up working.

Watson and Robinton were clearly dating before the paparazzi caught them together for the first time in fall 2019. The Daily Mail ran the PDA photos in October, and it looked like Watson had a boyfriend. She didn’t just trip and land on his lips. There was no way she could deny the hard evidence.

Yet it seemed as if she did because Watson herself told British Vogue that December that she was single. The interview did happen in the summer, but still, it confused fans.

Watson also talked about all the “subliminal messaging” you get when you turn 30. “If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband, if you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30, and you’re not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you’re still figuring things out…there’s just this incredible amount of anxiety,” she said.

Now we know that she probably hadn’t met Robinton yet during that interview. She also revealed that she was “going on dates,” even though she was perfectly happy being single. She called it being “self-partnered.”

Robinton Deleted All Social Media When More PDA Photos Came In 2020

When the couple was caught kissing again in April 2020, the Daily Mail could finally identify Robinton. He’s 31 years old, a native Californian, and a businessman specializing in legal cannabis. However, he left his job in June 2019, before meeting Watson.

Following the publication of these PDA photos, Robinton deleted his Instagram and other social media accounts, probably due to all the media coverage. But it didn’t stop. They were photographed again in November 2020.

Other than the fact that he’s a businessman, we know that he also comes from a big family. According to Elle, he has two older sisters (Daisy and Lily), a twin brother named Archer, and an older brother named Charlie.

He also has a passion for activism, something that he and Watson have in common. In 2017, he attended the Washington D.C. Women’s March with his sister Daisy, a cell and molecular biologist. Daisy posted a photo of her and her brother at the march and commented, “Proud of my little bro for trekking across the country to support women’s rights @theresleo #EmpowerWomen #WomensMarchDC.”

An Insider Says They’re Very Serious

When Robinton’s identity was revealed by the Daily Mail, insiders also told the publication that they did everything in their power to keep their relationship private and will try to keep it like that. They said Robinton had met Watson’s parents and that she’s “really serious about him.”

Since then, updates about the couple have been few and far between, and mostly just conjecture. Then when Watson’s rep said her career had become “dormant,” it led people and the press to believe she was settling down.

“Emma has gone underground; she is settling down with Leo,” a source claimed. “They’re laying low. Maybe she wants a family.” The Daily Mail also claimed that the couple has been living together in Los Angeles for some time.

With the rumors of her retirement still lurking, the Daily Mail also reported that Watson and Robinton were engaged. With a drought in knowledge about the couple, they basically had to make up stories. But a source told Us Weekly that wasn’t true, although Watson does see a future with Robinton.

The engagement rumors seemed to be the last straw for Watson. She sent out a message on her Twitter denying the rumors in May, writing:

Dear Fans,

Rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is “dormant or not” are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue. If I have news—I promise I’ll share it with you. In the mean time please assume no news from me just means I’m quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are—failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people. I am sending so much love to you, hoping you’re ok and as well and happy as you can be in these strange times. And again, thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us safe and well.

E

Xx

The press should know by now that making up stories will not get Watson and Robinton to the alter any faster. They’re clearly working on their own schedules and at their own speed. This is Watson we’re talking about. She’s just as headstrong as Hermione.
