Gigi Hadid showcases her fearless side flying on a trapeze for the cover of V Magazine… but makes no mention of ex Zayn Malik in interview
Gigi Hadid showcased her fearless side flying on a trapeze for the latest cover of V Magazine.
The supermodel, 26, soared through the skies of New York City wearing an array of daring styles as she performed a series of jaw-dropping aerial stunts.
Hadid interviewed numerous members of her team for the issue, from photographer Mario Sorrenti to her makeup artist, but not once did she bring up her ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik, whom she split from after his alleged altercation with her mother Yolanda Hadid.
On the daring cover, Hadid leapt off the edge of the platform with her hands raised as her braided ponytail whipped into the air.
The runway beauty wore an edgy black top that was cut diagonally across her torso, showing off a hint of her taut abs.
Even in the midst of soaring many feet into the air, Gigi looked graceful as she flashed a peaceful expression with her hands stretched outward.
Gigi also impressively alternated between ballet flats and a black bodysuit with built-in heels.
On a second cover, Gigi wowed in a dazzling bodysuit encrusted with crystals.
She also showcased more of her moves twirling on rings.
Interestingly, Gigi was the one who suggested shooting the cover on the trapeze. And, based on the photos, the model is clearly a natural in the air.
‘I was on the way home from work at Pier 59, where I work a lot, and I always drive past this trapeze school that’s at the top of a building and think, “I want to go there one day.” And sometimes this job is an opportunity to try new things, and to inspire people to try new things,’ Gigi said during her interview with her manager, Luiz Mattos.
Speaking with her photographer Mario, Gigi asked: ‘What did you think when you heard that I wanted to fly on the trapeze besides “Gigi’s insane?”‘
‘Well, you know me. I was like, “Oh my God, can she do it? It’s so dangerous,”‘ Mario said. ‘I’m always worried about your safety first. And then I thought, “Well, she’s pretty bada**, and she killed it when we did the jet ski, so let’s try it.”‘
Mario also commended Gigi on her trapeze shoot.
‘You totally blew our minds. You really were so focused and so committed and so athletic. It was amazing,’ he said.
But Gigi, who shares one-year-old daughter Khai with Zayn, referred to herself as ‘an old mother’ as she recounted the painful day after the shoot.
‘I didn’t feel athletic the day after. My high school muscle memory came back and then the next day I was like, “Oh, wait.” I’m an old mother now, Mario.’
The interview comes several months after Gigi’s now ex-boyfriend Zayn landed in controversy after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with Gigi’s mother Yolanda.
Zayn pleaded no contest to four harassment charges in October and was sentenced to 360 days probation and an anger management course. He was also told he must have no contact with Yolanda or a security guard who witnessed the fight.
He denied the claims made against him which include him pushing the reality star into a dresser and calling her a ‘s**t.’
The incident happened after a fight at the home in Pennsylvania he shares with Gigi Hadid and their daughter Khai. Gigi was modelling in Paris and Yolanda let herself into the couple’s home, seemingly without Malik’s consent.
A fight ensued, in which he allegedly called her a ‘f****** Dutch s**t’ and said: ‘Stay the f*** away from my daughter’.
He is then said to have phoned Gigi in Paris and berated her down the phone, screaming: ‘Strap on some f*****g balls.’
A security guard witnessed the event and he yelled at him: ‘Get the f*** out of my f***ing house copper.’
Zayn posted a statement on social media at the time that confirmed there was an incident, that he pleaded no contest (although it was unclear at the time that he’d been criminally charged) and that he was trying to protect his daughter.
