Charmed

This ‘Charmed’ Cast Member Was Accused Of Making The Set “Toxic AF”

Rose McGowan was none too pleased when discussing Alyssa Milano's journey on Charmed behind the scenes.

Working on set is never easy, and conflict can arise for a variety of reasons. At Marvel, Tobey Maguire and James Franco beefed over Kirsten Dunst, while smaller movies, like The Infiltrator, saw actors come to blows. Conflict comes in all form and at random times, making things tense on set.

Sometimes, a beef from a project can last for years, and things can get personal in a public way. Two co-stars from Charmed clearly feel some type of way about one another after all these years, and one co-star got personal on social media and levied a serious accusation about the other being toxic.

Let’s take a look at these two and see what happened.

‘Charmed’ Was A Huge Hit

During the late ’90s and 2000s, there were some notable shows that came along and injected something interesting into TV lineups that had grown stale. Instead of just being typical family sitcoms, these shows were all about being fantastical and supernatural, and because of this, fans were gifted shows like Charmed.

Starring Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and several others, Charmed was a genuinely great show that had everything working for it. The cast was great together on screen, the characters were memorable and enjoyable, and the stories never shied away from being weird and wonderful in their own right.

For 8 seasons and nearly 180 episodes, the Halliwell sisters took on demons, warlocks, and creatures of all shapes and sizes using their amazing powers. The series is a classic, and it even spawned what has become a successful reboot.

It’s great that Charmed was a huge success, but behind the scenes, things weren’t always so peachy.

There Was Drama Behind The Scenes

When working long enough in close quarters with a group of people, conflict is bound to arise. This is the case in any type of work environment, and it is especially true when working on a film or television project. As we have seen many times with other shows, there were definitely some issues on the set of Charmed.

One notable bit of drama was between co-stars Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty. Both had been TV stars prior to starring on Charmed together, and they had a tough time while bringing the show to life.

Milano touched on this in 2020, saying, “I could take responsibility for a lot of our tension that we had. I think a lot of our struggle came from feeling that I was in competition rather than it being that sisterhood that the show was so much about. I have some guilt about my part in that.”

“I will send her DMs every couple of months to just check in. I have respect for her. Great actress, loves her family so much, and I just wish I could’ve felt strong enough in who I was to recognise that back then,” she said.

Clearly, these two have at least tried to bury the hatchet. This is quite the contrast to another fractured relationship from series co-stars.

Alyssa Milano Was Accused Of Being Toxic By Rose McGowan

Just last year, Rose McGowan and Alyssa Milano got into a verbal sparring match on social media, which led to McGowan getting personal.

For context, this particular jab from McGowan came after the duo got into a heated political discussion. Both have been outspoken advocates of the #metoo movement, but they have also been on opposing sides of the political spectrum. This, in turn, caused a war of words to ensue, which took a personal turn.

Again, both women exchanged verbal jabs, but fans were surprised when McGowan flipped the script to their time on Charmed.

“You threw a fit in front of the crew, yelling, ‘They don’t pay me enough to do this s—!’ Appalling behavior on the daily. I cried every time we got renewed because you made that set toxic AF. Now, get off my coattails you f—-ing fraud,” McGowan wrote.

Needless to say, people were stunned at what they were reading, especially given how personal things got between the pair.

Holly Marie Combs, who starred on the show with both actresses, was more neutral in her take on the situation.

“We are all different and stand up for our own beliefs. That’s the kind of independence the show stood for then and we stand for now. It’s actually very appropriate that we are different and do not pretend otherwise,” she wrote.

Clearly, there is no love lost between the two co-stars from the hit show, but hopefully, they can find common ground and patch things up.
