Twilight: The 10 Best Characters Introduced After The First Movie

The Twilight movies are full of memorable characters but these 10 were the best introduced into the series after the first installment.

The Twilight Saga started in movies with Twilight and introduced Bella Swan and Edward Cullen to the world. That movie also introduced the world to Jacob Black as the other part of the love triangle and brought in characters like Bella’s dad Charlie and Edward’s family with the Cullen clan.

However, that was only the tip of the iceberg. In the second movie, New Moon, and the following movies, Eclipse and two Breaking Dawn movies, more characters showed up that played an important role in the story. From more members of the werewolf pack to the Volturi and allies of the Cullen family, some great characters came in later years.

Leah (Julia Jones)

Leah Clearwater in Twilight

Leah Clearwater arrived for the first time in New Moon. Leah is the Beta of the Black Pack and the only known female werewolf in Quileute history. Played by Julia Jones, Leah is Harry Clearwater’s daughter and Seth’s older sister. Leah ended up turning into a werewolf for the first time in New Moon. She went on to play a major role in Eclipse and the Breaking Dawn movies, and she is easily the most memorable member of the Pack outside of Jacob.

Seth (Booboo Stewart)

Seth Clearwater brought a genuine innocence and purity to Sam Uley’s wolf pack. Played by Booboo Stewart, Seth was Leah’s younger brother and was the most filled out were3wolf outside of Jacob and Leah. Seth showed up for the first time in New Moon and he played a role through the Breaking Dawn movies. While most male members of the pack outside of Jacob were alpha males, Seth was more open to others outside his pack, making him the only werewolf the Cullen’s embraced.

Aro (Michael Sheen)

Michael Sheen played the alpha werewolf in the Underworld movies and in Twilight, he switched sides as a vampire ruler in the Volturi. Aro is one of the three leaders of the Volturi, and the one who takes the lead whenever they appeared in the movies. He showed up for the first time in New Moon and ended up as the man who called off the attack against the Cullen family in the final movie.

Bree Tanner was a tragic character in The Twilight Saga. Victoria created her in Eclipse as part of her army of newborn vampires. Bree was a child vampire, a runaway who Victoria turned and was the only one who had a chance at life. When the fight ended and both Victoria and Riley died, the Cullen family tried to help her. However, the Volturi arrived and killed Bree, even after Carlisle offered to take her into his coven.

Jane (Dakota Fanning)

Jane judging others in Twilight: Breaking Dawn.

Jane was another member of the Volturi, and she was arguably the cruelest. Jane was a high-ranking member of the Volturi guard and remained one of the most powerful weapons for the group. Her power was causing intense pain to a person’s mind. Dakota Fanning played Jane, giving a familiar face to the character, and was easily the least likable Volturi member. She made her first appearance in New Moon and was there for the final fight in Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Garrett (Lee Pace)

Marvel fans know Lee Pace from his role as Ronin the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. He was also a huge favorite in the TV series Pushing Daisies, and in Breaking Dawn Part 2, Pace arrived as a very different character.

Garrett is a former nomadic vampire from the mid-1700s who joined the Cullen family for their fight. He became Kate’s mate in the Denali coven after the battle with the Volturi in that last movie.

Benjamin (Rami Malek)

Rami Malek went on to huge success after his role in Breaking Dawn Part 2. He won an Oscar for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody and was a massive star in his own TV series Mr. Robot. In the Twilight universe, he proved he was a star with a head-turning performance as vampire Benjamin, an Egyptian vampire who showed up for the final fight. His power was manipulating all the elements of nature.

Irina (Maggie Grace)

Irina betrays the Cullen family in Twilight

Irina showed up for the first time in New Moon. She was one of the Denali sisters who were vegetarian vampires, the most notable family outside of the Cullen family. Irina was in a relationship with Laurent, who was killed by the Uley pack when he tried to kill Bella Swan. Enraged, Irina went to the Volturi and tried to betray the Cullen family, only to have them kill her when she admitted to lying about Bella. Maggie Grace, who also starred in Lost and Fear the Walking Dead, starred as Irina.

Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl)

Volturi leader Marcus in Breaking Dawn

Marcus is an elder vampire and one of the three leaders of the Volturi coven. He first appeared in New Moon and then returned in the Breaking Dawn movies. Played by Christopher Heyerdahl, Marcus was an older vampire who was born around 1350 BC in Greece and has been around for a very long time. His weariness showed in the final battle when he seemed ready to end things and saying “finally” when he died. It was a humorous moment that showed the humanity of the elder vampires.
